This antique horse saddle is in excellent condition. It\'s about 100 years old. I think it is from Uzbekistan (Lakai). The dimensions are 2 ft. 4 in. by 1 ft. 10 in. The colors are nice and there is no fading. The design is interesting and the embroidery is also very lovely.

This antique belt with it\'s original silver buckle (is over 100 years old). I think it is from Uzbekistan (Lakai), based on my research. The dimensions are 3 feet by 2 1/2 inches. The colors are vibrant and true, as if it were made yesterday. It\'s in excellent condition and is quite lovely.

A superb Suzani, probably Nurata, silk on linen, early nineteenth century. Size 2.20m x 1.60m. Recently re-lined to secure some small holes, there is some corrosion, notably to a true aubergine colour, unusual to find in a Suzani.

Ruband – Tajikistan early 1900’s. Women\'s embroidered face covering, ruband, used during the wedding ceremony - an ancient nuptial garment of Tajik women living in the Pamir mountains, but fell out of use around the early 1900’s. Embroidered with cotton base and silk threads,
the ornamental motifs of rubands include stylized trees, triangles, rhythmical geometrical outlined
flowers, birds, notably the rooster (hooros) and peacock (tovoos), and the birds appearing in rooband are embroidered in red thread to symbolize fire and thus protect the newly wed.

BLANKET (recto), Central Asia, late 19th century, cm 204x141.
An intriguing item, showing two aspects of the block printing technique. The front side shows a wonderful example of those block-printed cottons made in France for the upper market as a follow-on of the oriental-mania triggered by the ‘Exposition Universelle’ held 1889 in Paris. The multicoloured botehs on red ground are just a great image, and no wonder that such things made then their way back to origins via Russian merchants.
The back or lining, on the other hand, shows another application of block prints, a more funky one if you wish with not so detailed rendering of flowering, and typical of Central Asia where it also served as lining cloth for local ikat coats. Recto: machine-spun and machine-woven cotton and industrial block-printing. Verso: hand-spun and hand-woven wool cloth with ‘cottage’ block-printing. Good condition with just a pair of little damaged spots.
